A Homemade Asian Dinner <3
I made literally such a yummy asian dinner last weekend and just wanted to share with you all! I am not a chef by any means, but with a little help from my mom, who is the best cook ever, I feel like it turned out soooo good if I do say so myself.
So here’s a layout of everything we made:
yellowtail sashimi
pork scallion dumplings
pork & shrimp shumai
spicy tuna crispy rice
edamame
seaweed salad (not homemade, I got it from Bristol Farms)
piña coladas
not pictured: spicy tuna poké & rice
Here’s one of the pics of the shumai that I made before I steamed them. I recently took a cooking class at the Gourmandise School in Santa Monica where I learned how to make these and not only do they taste amazing, they also are so easy to make. Let me know if you want a post about how to make one and I can show you how to do it.
The spicy tuna crispy rice was also super easy to make and probably one of my favorite things of the whole dinner. My mom and I have tried making crispy rice before and it never turned out well because it would always fall apart when we would fry them. I learned on Tiktok that the trick is:
cook the rice (make sure it’s sushi rice)
then pack it tightly in a container and put it into the freezer until it’s full frozen
then cut it into your desired shape
and then fry it (by freezing it the shape of the rice will be able to hold up in the hot oil and not fall apart)
Yellow tail sashimi!!! Also, no Asian meal is complete without some Hello Kitty chopsticks. I should have put ponzu with this, but I completely forgot.
For dessert, my mom made the cutest strawberry Swiss roll. Ugh it’s so cute and it tasted so light and delicious.
