LA Restaurant Review: Bull & Butterfly
I’m finally back with another restaurant review and I have been meaning to talk about about Bull & Butterfly for literally so long now! First of all, not only is this place super aesthetically pleasing (like their bar is seriously so insta-worthy), I also love that it is located in Playa Vista. For those of you that don’t know, Playa Vista is like an actual utopia that’s located right next to Marina Del Rey and everything there is brand new & things look oddly too perfect, but it’s an absolute vibe. Also, it’s so safe there to the point you could walk around at night and not be afraid. Anyway, my boyfriend suggested this restaurant, since we were going to the movies practically next door, & I was honestly so surprised how much I loved the food.
For appetizers we got:
Oysters - In general, I like oysters, but have never been that crazy about them, but the oysters here were seriously so delicious. I hate when they taste overly fishy, but these ones were perfect!
Steak Tartare - Literally all I can say is *chef’s kiss*. My bf and I could have probably eaten 5 orders of this, not joking.
Ahi Tuna Tartare - Okay we clearly love raw foods because we also ordered the tuna lol. Tuna tartare is always a go to for me and this one did not disappoint. The things on the side are called soap crisps, which were a little thick and not really that crunchy, but I wouldn’t say they were bad. The actual fish was perfect though and I love that they put spicy mayo with it.
After all of the appetizers, we didn't want to eat that much, since I love getting snacks at the movies, so we just shared a light dinner.
Little Gem Caesar - Okay not really that exciting, but I don’t care because Caesar salads are always yummy. I feel like you can’t really fuck up a Caesar, but one thing I liked was how they had little crispy bread crumbs throughout the salad. I kind of like that better than regular croutons.
Lemon Jidori Chicken with honey gold squash & market greens topped with hatch chili ranch- We originally ordered this to be skinny legends because I feel like chicken is the healthy choice, but omg this was actually sooo delicious. The chicken was so flavorful and it paired so well with the slight sweetness of the squash. To be honest, it kind of had the vibe of something you would make at home, but just a million times better. Also, I love the little salad with the hatch chili ranch because I am the biggest ranch stan ever. Also, considering Bull & Butterfly is a steak restaurant, I was relieved their chicken didn’t taste like shit.
Overall, this experience has turned me in to an absolute Bull & Butterfly stan. I still haven’t gone back, yet but I literally need to asap because there are so many things on the menu that I’m dying to try. Like they literally have onion rings on the menu & I need them right now! If you live in LA, especially if you’re on the westside, you need to come here because I know you’ll love it. Also, pro tip, the Google and Facebook offices are literally right near by, so maybe you could also snatch yourself up a daddy in tech while you’re at it.
