Make Walking 10K Steps a Day Easier with These Tricks
Striving to reach the 10,000 steps per day goal can definitely be a lot at first, but fear not! In this article, we've compiled a list of clever tricks to make achieving this milestone a breeze. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast or just looking to boost your daily activity levels, these strategies will help you make walking 10,000 steps easier and more enjoyable, so you can start reaping all the benefits.
Do it with someone
Especially because completing 10K steps can usually take around one to two hours to finish depending on your pace, having a friend to do it with you makes the time fly by so quickly. In fact, most times when I go on walks with someone, we usually end up surpassing our step goal because we’re having such a good time outside chatting it up. Also, alternatively, if you don’t have any friends available to physically go with, talking with someone on the phone while you walk also works wonders too.
Create new weekly playlists to listen to while you walk
Having a variety of music to listen to while walking has been crucial for me. Since I aim for 10K steps daily, I constantly switch up my playlist to avoid getting bored of the same songs. Creating new playlists every week or two keeps me motivated to reach my goal, and I've discovered a lot of new music in the process. Some days I'm in the mood for pop, rap, country, throwbacks, or EDM. My music taste has expanded, and setting the vibe with a curated playlist adds to the fun.
Have podcasts lined up to listen to
If you prefer something more engaging than music, podcasts are a great option. There are truly such a wide range of topics to choose based on your interests because literally ever damn person has a podcast these days. You’ll honestly never run out of content and most podcasts are around an hour long, which should entertain you throughout the bulk of your walk. Especially if you listen to more educational podcasts during your walk, you’re really killing two birds with one stone on your self improvement.
Break it up
Because walking 10K can be quite the task to do in one go, considering it adds up to around 5+ miles, breaking it up throughout the day can make it seem a lot easier to get through. For example, sometimes I like to do 5K steps in the morning when I first get up and then do the other half in the evening. The more you try different things out, you’ll figure out what works best for you and your routine.
Get cute workout outfits to wear to get you excited
Even on days when I don’t feel like exercising, something about putting on a cute little workout set just puts me in the best mood. I used to always just throw on a big t-shirt and call it a day, but ever since I actually started putting in the effort to look good, I’ve seen such an improvement in my motivation. If you want some good workout outfit inspo, stay tuned & I’ll create some articles about the brands I’ve been loving!
Reward yourself with a post-walk treat
Whether it’s taking yourself for a coffee or smoothie, just having something to look forward to after you finish walking can make you so much more motivated to finish your step goal for the day. But to be honest, I look for just about any excuse these days to reward myself with a little treat.
Daydream
This might seem a little weird, but nothing passes the time quite like a little daydream sesh. Especially since I usually have an uninterrupted portion of my day if I’m walking by myself, I have a lot of time to think about my goals and the things that I want in life. Also, this is probably bad advice lol, but whenever I have a crush on someone, best believe I start daydreaming about them during my walk and time will literally fly by in two seconds.
