Valentine’s Day Ideas If You Don’t Have A Significant Other

It’s finally February, besties, which means Valentine’s Day is approaching!!!! While I know a lot people have mixed feelings about the holiday, especially if they do not have a significant other, this is no reason for you not to get excited and celebrate all different forms of love. For literally most of my life I never had a Valentine, but have always found ways to make the most of Valentine’s Day, so I put together a little list of things you can do to have the best day ever. Like besides the fact that people view this holiday as a day for couples to do romantic things for one another, there’s no denying that Valentine’s Day is just sooo cute. What other day revolves are eating sweets, putting hearts everywhere, and having everything be pink. I personally cannot think of anything more perfect.

Disclaimer: While I made this list of things to do on Valentine’s Day if you don’t have a s/o, this list is also perfect to do anytime of year if you just want a self-care day or to just do something fun to make yourself feel special!

  • go on a walk with a friend & get smoothies

Okay, I know this one seems so simple & basic, but there’s really nothing a good walk/gossip sesh can’t fix. Also, feel free to splurge and get that $20 Erewhon smoothie, you deserve it.

  • buy yourself cute underwear, lingerie, sexy pajama set, fluffy socks/slippers

Don’t underestimate the power of getting a cute little pj set or some sexy underwear. Even if you don't have a partner to show it off to, trust me, you will still be feeling like such a bad bitch. You could even take pics and have a cute little photoshoot for yourself or with friends.

  • buy yourself flowers & chocolates (or even for your friends or mom)

Pretty self explanatory, but who says you can’t be the one to give flowers to yourself. Also, no one knows your taste better than you, so treating yourself will always be better than receiving some last minute wilted grocery store flowers from a fuck boy. Don’t forget to get some for your mom and friends too, they will appreciate it so much!

  • make dinner with friends and make cute drinks

Cooking is literally so much fun and this is the perfect opportunity to finally make those recipes that you have been saving on your Pinterest board. If you suck at cooking, go to Trader Joe’s and get whatever looks dank in the frozen section and throw it in the the oven. Me and my best friend from high school used to always do this and we would just put everything in her air fryer and have a TJ’s feast. These were some of my favorite memories and we would always make cute cocktails together out of whatever random shit we had at home.

  • take a bubble bath & get your favorite candles, essential oils, bath salts

  • go on a dinner date with friends

Dinner dates are not just for couples. Literally make a reservation & go out to a cute restaurant and treat yourself!

  • have a self care night: get under eye/face masks, do a hair mask, paint your nails, listen to your fav podcasts

This one is pretty similar to the bath suggestion, but just pamper the hell out of yourself. There’s no better form of love than self love/self care.

  • order in food & watch your favorite movies

If you’re not into going out or you just hate cooking, your good friends Postmates & Hulu will be there to save the day. Also if you don’t have a boyfriend, this is your perfect excuse to grub out on an Indian food feast, while watching Disney channel original movies without any judgement. Or at least that's what I’d do.

  • make cute valentine’s day cards for your favorite people

Homemade cards are so cute because they come from the heart. Even if it seems cheesy or you feel to old to make your own cards, people will appreciate them so much more than any card you could ever buy. I’m the type of person who saves stuff like this and I’m sure whoever you give these to will keep them forever!
