5 Tips to Start Slaying
While everyone is on their own personal journeys, I feel like it’s safe to say there’s always room for improvement. Everybody has the ability to be the girl who has it all, but you have to be willing to put in the little extra bit of effort. Here are some of our easy ways that you can get started.
Wake Up Early Everyday
This one can be a tough one, especially if you’re a night owl like me, but trust me this is a game changer. The earlier you start your morning and actually get all your tasks out of the way, you just feel so much more motivated to be productive for the rest of the day. Also, when you start waking up early everyday, this kind of forces you to have a more set routine in place, reducing your urge to slack off. When I used to sleep in a lot, there was no worse feeling than waking up and already having half the day be gone.
Don’t Give a Shit What Other People Think About You
If you really want to slay, you absolutely cannot care about the opinions of others. If people like you, that’s great, but if they don’t, oh freaking well. It’s way better to be yourself and own who you are, than to try to be “cool” to please or fit in with others. It’s honestly so hot to have the confidence to just do whatever you want.
Be Picky About the Company You Keep
It’s one thing to know a lot of people, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be close with everyone. In my opinion, it’s way better to just have a couple people in your inner circle that you trust, so you’re not wasting all of your energy on bad company that just leaves you ultimately feeling drained and unfulfilled. There’s honestly no shame in canceling plans and chilling by yourself if you ultimately know that the vibes are going to be wack. These days, I just feel like I have a little too much jomo from protecting my peace, but it’s given me way more time to focus on me and get ahead on my goals.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask For What You Want
When you’re going after anything that you want, it’s inevitable that rejection and/or obstacles may arise, but this doesn’t mean that you have to accept this as the end all be all. For every person that says “no,” there is almost always someone else that will say “yes.” Never take “no” as a final answer.
Always Keep Learning & Educating Yourself
It doesn’t matter if you’re in school or not; there’s never a reason to stop learning. If you really want to have that edge, it’s important that you’re always continuing to sharpen and acquire new skills. The more knowledge you have, not only will it make you a much more interesting person, but you also heavily increase your chances for new opportunities. Read more books, take classes, and choose certain areas/topics to become an expert in. Especially with the internet, you can learn so much just from your phone. Being smart is truly the biggest flex.
