A Strongly Worded Article to The Bachelor Producers

After many loyal years dedicated towards watching the show and all of it’s spinoffs, each season actually gets worse and worse. This is no hate to the individual participants of the show, but it is honestly so cringey to watch how outdated and, quite frankly, tacky the show’s layout has become. Being such a popular show, you’d imagine that they’d have a big enough budget to start hiring new people to bring fresh ideas to the table and think of innovative ways that will allow this franchise to stand the test of time. For example, even in the most recent episode of Katie’s season (episode 2), both group dates were literally dates they have recycled COUNTLESS times. The date where they talk about sex infront of an audience was done last season and on Jojo’s, just to name a few, and the date where participants are fighting against each other has been done on so many seasons that I lost count (I know for sure it was done on Matt’s, Arie’s, Rachel’s). Even though there have been a lot of restrictions due to COVID-19, this is honestly just laziness on the part of all of the people who are producing the show because it seems like they are just beating a dead horse instead of trying to think of new ways to spice up the show.

While a lot of the problems with this show relate back to the production continuing to use the same boring layout, one of the bigger issues that also has contributed to the franchise’s decline is the fact that most of the contestants have an ulterior agenda of gaining social media notoriety instead of finding love. A lot of what made the show such a major success in the past is due to its ability to bring to life the fantasy of finding love and going on extravagant dates around the world. Back when social media was not a thing, people actually went on the show to find love and continued to live the same lives they were living before the show, which is no longer the case. Despite that a lot of couples do come out of the show, there is a lot of disingenuousness that is so easy to see through, especially when people are purposely causing fake drama to get more airtime. The producers need to realizes that forced controversy is not synonymous to quality, entertaining content. For instance, this past season they clearly brought on two men, Cody and Aaron, who had prior beef before the show and they tried to make it seem like this was juicy drama. LIKE SORRY BUT NO ONE CARES and the producers constantly try to use this story line, as seen with Caelyn Miller Keyes & Hannah Brown (Colton’s season) and Victoria Paul & Alayah (Peter’s season).

To be honest I could go on and on, but The Bachelor is officially cheugy and if they don’t start making some integral changes soon, I could see this show eventually being removed from the air which would be so sad. But will I still watch it? Yes lol. Is it a fucking chore? Also yes. Even though the show sucks now, I’m a dedicated individual and literally still watch this shitshow every week, even if I am scrolling on my phone for 60% of the episode. But seriously, the producers need to get their shit together because the the franchise used to give me my will to live every Monday night. Although there have only been two episodes of the current season, hopefully it gives that authentic messy drama that makes reality tv what it’s supposed to be.
