Every summer, there always seems to be a new vibe that people are embodying, especially due to how fast trends pick up thanks to social media (namely TikTok), and this year is no different. Enter: brat girl summer.
Although being described as a “brat” has typically been used in a negative connotation, British singer Charli XCX has reclaimed the word with her newest album, “Brat,” which she released in early June. Essentially, what it means to be brat or to have a brat summer is all about having a certain type of playfulness, unapologetic confidence, and carefree attitude. In short, it’s about embracing a little bit of messiness in your life, but it’s fine because you’re having fun and looking hot while doing it. Basically, it's the opposite of the clean girl archetype.
Although being brat is all about having your own vibe, here are some of the starter pack essentials that have been making waves.
Bag Charms - These have been extremely popular lately and not only are they cute, they really can add a lot of personality and uniqueness to your look. Especially when so many people carry the same popular bag styles, it’s cool to make it distinctly your own.
