Vanilla Refrigerator Cookies

Here’s another sweet treat recipe from my family archives for vanilla refrigerator cookies. I recently posted myself making these and have had a bunch of people asking for the recipe, so this one’s for you! Also, because this recipe is my grandma’s and is literally like a million years old, I did adjust the original instructions a slight bit just to make it more clear for you all. As usual, it’s a pretty simple recipe but, I hope you love them!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c butter

  • 1 c granulated sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 1/2 c sifted flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Optional: sprinkles

Instructions

  • Cream butter and sugar well

  • Add egg, beat well and add vanilla

  • Sift dry ingredients and add to wet mixture to form the dough

  • Roll dough into a log shape and cover with plastic wrap

  • Refrigerate dough for several hours (at least 3+ hours)

  • *Optional: Once dough has been refrigerated, I added sprinkles to the outer edge of the dough to make them look more colorful, since they’re kind of plain looking

  • Cut dough into slices around 1/4 - 1/3 of an inch thick & place on a lined baking pan (Optional: but I added even more sprinkles on the top too, which made them look so pretty after they baked)

  • Bake at 375°F for 7 to 10 minutes based on how done you like your cookies (I personally always like cookies a little on the softer side, rather than well done)

  • Let cool and enjoy
