How To Have Fun By Yourself
As of recently, I really have realized the relationship you have with yourself is hands down one of the most important relationships you will ever have in your life and being able to have fun in your own company is something that is beyond priceless (but a surprisingly difficult task for many people). I think a lot of us feel like we have to be around others in order to have a good time, when in actuality, there are plenty of ways to have that same feeling when you’re by yourself.
Here are some things that you can do:
Read books - When was that last time that you have picked up a book? When I was in high school, I pretty much convinced myself that I hated reading, but now that I am able to actually choose what books I want to read, it is one of my favorite things to do & I get so much out of it. Especially because I am always trying to better myself, reading has been such a key part in this.
Try new recipes - I always find so many recipes on Pinterest and TikTok that I want to try & honestly, it’s fun to try something new instead of always making the same things all of the time (even though I can be a creature of habit).
Watch a new show or movie - Luckily, my boyfriend has all of the streaming platforms so I have a lot of options, but I always end up watching re-runs.
Meditate - There are so many good videos on Youtube for this. I know if you haven’t really meditated before it can honestly feel a little awkward at first, but trust me once you continue to do it on a consistent basis, it is so uplifting & makes you feel so good after.
Take a bubble bath - There is nothing more relaxing and I always use all of my special soaps and essential oils to make it feel like I am at the spa.
Do some exercise classes (in person or even ones on Youtube)
Spend more time with your pets - They will always have your back and you can tell all of your secrets to them and not have to worry that they’ll have loose lips.
Go on a joy ride - Im sorry but there is literally no better feeling than driving around with the music blasting.
Start a garden - Okay I know this one might take some work, but even just having a couple plants to take care of is a good start.
Get yourself a little treat (For example, going to a cute coffee place & getting a drink and a little pastry, getting a donut, ice cream, whatever you like and makes you happy)
Paint your nails or go get them done at the nail salon - This is self-explanatory, but having fresh nails always makes me feel so put together.
Go to the library - Don’t sleep on the library. There is so much good stuff there & it’s literally free. Even if you don’t necessarily want to check out a book to read, I also like checking out cook books to explore new dishes to make.
Take yourself on a date - Yes go get food on your own and just be in your own company. Take yourself to that place you’ve been wanting to try
Go thrifting - The most fun activity to do because it’s like a treasure hunt.
Go to the gym & take yourself to a healthy lunch after
Organize your space - I know for at least myself that sometimes my room turns into an absolute shit show. Not only does cleaning/organizing make me feel more productive, my mind also is so much more clear after not being surrounded by clutter.
Go on a walk - Walking is probably one of my favorite forms of exercise because I don’t feel like I’m literally dying and it’s fun to get dressed up in a cute little work out set.
Make a vision board & start focusing more on your goals - Setting goals is literally so important and also so personal. Setting time aside to think about what you want to achieve and creating a plan of how to get there, such as making a vision board, makes this process so much easier & also fun.
Sit outside and just enjoy the weather - Soak up that vitamin D baby
Start a new hobby - (I know a lot of people sometimes struggle with finding new hobbies, so I can make another post soon with more ideas for you all.)
Get a facial or massage - I feel like sometimes I can be frugal when it comes to getting these types of treatments, but trust me, they are sooo worth it.
Find people you love watching on Youtube - I could literally spend hours on Youtube.
Take yourself on a shopping day - It’s fine to splurge on yourself every now and then. Sometimes just going to look around and not even buying anything can be so fun too.
Last, but not least, it’s okay to literally just do nothing - Everyone needs a break sometimes, so just taking the time to relax can be so fun and therapeutic when needed.
