LA Restaurant Review: Matsuhisa
As major sushi stans, my boyfriend and I have been dying to eat at Matsuhisa! I have literally passed by it a million times, so I was so excited to finally try it out. First of all, I have seen so many of my favorite influencers and people on TikTok talk about this place and I also just had high expectations in general considering this restaurant is owned by the owner of Nobu. To be honest, the restaurant is super small and looked like any other sushi place, but the food was amazing!
Yellowtail Jalenpeño
The obligatory yellowtail jalepeño sashimi, which yeah I know is basic, but this tasted like literal heaven. Also, you can’t tell me this literally isn’t so beautiful. 10/10 & if you come here you need this
Spinach Oshitashi
To be honest, I have no clue how my boyfriend even decided on ordering this, but this was seriously so tasty. This was like an interesting vegetable dish where there were super condensed leaves of spinach covered in a tangy salty sauce, but it just worked so well. Like I still have no clue what this is exactly, but I can assure you, as someone who low-key despises vegetables, that this was in fact very delicious.
Sashimi Cups with Spicy Miso Sauce
Okay how freaking cute are these. I mean obviously the fresh, amazing fish was the star of the show, but the little added crunch of the chip was a perfect touch. Such an adorable, fun little appetizer.
Wagyu Dumpling
These were good, but honestly if you come just order sushi. Like you can get dumplings anywhere else.
Other things I ordered, but didn’t get pics of:
-Baked Crab Hand Rolls: A lot of people that I know don’t like crab, but i’m obsessed, so I always need to order it whenever I go out for sushi. They were obviously really good here.
-Fish and Chips Matushisa Style: This was pretty much tempura fish and little fingerling potatoes. I feel like they tried to make this fancy, but in all honesty I am a complete fat ass & prefer real fries. Sorry not sorry. But, it was tasty not gonna lie.
