The Easiest Exercises To Do If You Hate Working Out

If you’re anything like me you probably want to stay in shape, but, when it comes to working out, you absolutely dread it. Even though exercising can be extremely exhausting, I have come up with the best list of exercises to do that will help you break sweat, but not make you want to drop dead. Like literally when I was in PE in middle school and they made me run the mile, I actually hated my life. Luckily now I am in charge of the exercises I want to do lol. If you always look at those fitness/wellness girls on Instagram and wonder why you can’t be like that, NEWSFLASH, you can (& you can have fun in the process)!

  • Playing Tennis

Not only is tennis the chicest sport ever, it also is so much fun and you can burn so many calories while playing. Especially if you are like me and DESPISE running, playing tennis actually makes running fun and I also like that there’s a competitive aspect to it to. Even if you don’t play actual sets, it’s still super fun to hit the courts and just rally.

  • Jumping Rope

Not to be repetitive, but I absolutely hate to run, so jumping rope is a perfect alternative. Not only does it actually burn calories a lot quicker, I also enjoy that it is an exercise you can do at home that doesn’t take much equipment or space. Even jumping rope for just 15 min burns almost 200 calories!

  • Pilates

I used to be a major yoga stan, but, to be honest, pilates is superior. Not only can you adjust the level based on your skill set, I actually feel like it tones my body more efficiently and doesn’t require as many strenuous moves, as opposed to yoga. I do most of my pilates workouts on the Mirror, which is a mirror device with a screen that displays a bunch of different workout classes (similar to a Peleton style workout-from-home device). If you don’t own one of these, I also love Tasha Franken’s pilates videos on Youtube, which usually range from 7-20minutes that come in a variety of intensity levels.

  • Going on a Walk

Going on a walk is so simple, but honestly effective. Not only can going on a walk give you a lot of mental clarity, it also is a great low impact workout. I like going on walks with friends or my boyfriend, but honestly going on a walk alone, while either listening to music or a good podcast, is such a power move.

  • Elliptical

Despite that doing the 12-3-30 on the treadmill was literally the most popular thing ever, I’m sorry, but the the treadmill will never top the elliptical. If you hop on one of these bad boys and throw on a show or some music in the background, an hour will literally pass by before you know it. The elliptical is always my go to and now that the gyms are back open, I can start using them religiously again.

  • Stationary Bikes

Okay I feel like only old people use these, but stationary bikes are the ultimate lazy girl workout machine since you can literally sit down while doing it, which is the reason why I love them. I know cycling is all the rage, but unpopular opinion, those types of workout bikes literally hurt my butt and tail bone so much. Like, I seriously have no idea how all the people at Soul Cycle are not in pain after their classes lmao. In contrast, stationary bikes have a bigger and way more comfier seat that aren’t 3 inches wide like a cycling machine. They aren’t as chic, but it will save you from having a sore butt.

  • Dance in the Mirror to Your Fav Music

Okay maybe it’s just me, but when I put on some good vibey music, I can literally dance in the mirror all day & just think about why the fuck I’m THAT BITCH. It probably sounds so conceited, but if you don’t hype yourself up, who else will. After dancing to a bunch of songs, I end up so worn out but I always have a blast while doing it. 10/10 this is my favorite form of exercise and would highly recommend. It sounds embarrassing but don’t knock it until you try it.

  • Kickboxing/ Boxing

Literally so much fun, especially if you’re someone with a competitive spirit. While you can go to an actually boxing gym for classes, there are tons of videos on Youtube that you can do for free at home! I remember when all of the Victoria’s Secret angels would talk about how much they loved boxing to get in shape for the fashion show, so every time I do it I feel like them lol.
