Hear Us Out: Bone Broth Hot Chocolate
Okay, I know it sounds weird, but stay with me—bone broth hot chocolate might just be the unexpected wellness drink you didn’t know you needed. It combines the rich, comforting taste of classic hot cocoa with the gut-healing, protein-packed benefits of bone broth. The result? A creamy, nutrient-dense drink that satisfies your chocolate cravings while actually being good for you. (Trust me, you can’t even taste the bone broth.)
Why It Works
Bone broth is loaded with collagen, amino acids, and minerals that support digestion, skin health, and joint function. When blended with raw cacao (which is packed with antioxidants and magnesium), you get a drink that’s not only delicious but also deeply nourishing. Especially as someone who is addicted to chocolate and desserts, I’ve been having this a lot lately to cure my sweet tooth.
Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted bone broth (You can use beef or chicken, well-strained. I like using the Butchers by Roli Roti Organic Beef Bone Broth or Kettle & Fire)
1-2 tablespoon raw cacao powder (I like adding extra because I love an extra chocolatey flavor)
1-2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of sea salt
1/2 cup of milk or milk alternative (you can add more if you like it creamier)
Instructions:
Heat the bone broth in a saucepan over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
Whisk in the cacao powder, sweetener, cinnamon, vanilla, and sea salt until smooth.
Stir in the coconut milk or cream for added richness.
Pour into a mug and enjoy!
